A special kind of tea ceremony for our esteemed guests.

What is a tea ceremony?

A Japanese tea ceremony is an honored Japanese tradition. It is a ceremonial way of the host preparing green tea for his or her guests and is usually being done in a traditional tearoom with tatami floor.

This is usually a multi-hour event that showcases artistry and the proper form of tea preparation.

How is our experience different from the usual tea ceremony?

The traditional way of the tea ceremony usually takes at least one (1) hour to a maximum of two (2) hours to complete. The reason behind the normally lengthy event is due to it starting from the time that guests arrive and enter a small door into the “chashitsu” (tearoom) until the conclusion where the tea is enjoyed by the participants.

Though, not everyone can be invited to this special occasion as one must be knowledgeable about the nature of the ceremony, the displayed “kakejiku” or Japanese art scroll, make of the “chawan” or ceremonial tea bowl, the flower displays, and the tea itself.

For our experience, we have only been introduced to the preparation and drinking of the tea prepared by Chef Chika and got to know a bit more about the food and drinks.
